Heart Earth takes a holistic approach combining EMDR, art therapy, and cultural teachings into a therapeutic practice. We offer individual counselling, group therapy, art-based workshops, art hives, facilitation, and cultural teachings.

Who is Heart Earth?

Leanna Marshall, MSW | RSW | PCAT

Hearth Earth Counselling and Consulting is owned by Anishnaabekwe, Leanna Marshall. Leanna Marshall was born in Thunder Bay and is a band member of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation (Big Trout Lake).
Leanna is both a clinician and artist. Leanna knows first-hand the healing power of creativity. At Heart Earth Counselling, we believe that creative expression combined with cultural grounding initiates significant and meaningful change. Heart Earth counselling strives to help, support, and uplift people.
In her own arts practice, Leanna tells stories of her ancestors and of the land through textiles, performance art, community art and poetry. Leanna writes to express social inequities and demonstrate actions of kind-heartedness to work through the effects of colonial violence. These experiences have helped propel her thoughts and process grief related to colonial violence and find the sacred in movement and listening.
Leanna would like to acknowledge Grandmother and Earth advocate, Wilma Kempe for her teaching around the words: HEART and EARTH - they are the same letters used in each word and a beautiful reminder of the necessity of leading our life's choices with our hearts. Miigwech Wilma.
